To serve and equip school age children and their parents in the “at risk” urban communities of central Arkansas
All of the STEP Mentoring Programs are based upon one-to-one biblical based mentoring. Friendship and Discipleship Clubs are held weekly in the evenings throughout the school year. Summer Clubs are held each week during the months of June, July, and August and require a 9-hour commitment for only one week.
Friendship/Discipleship Clubs Volunteer mentors evangelize and disciple children and youth (ages 8-18) through intentional one-to-one relationships. Structured weekly meetings are conducted on site and led by staff. We supply Bible study material, arts and crafts, and life skills and recreational activities. These meetings provide the fertile soil for spiritual growth, positive encouragement, and possible long term relationships. Volunteer mentors are required to be faithful Christians who attend a local church and pass a background check and personal interview.Training is provided.
Summer Program The Summer Program provides a glimpse of what mentoring involves. Volunteers and youth pack our facilities with many valuable experiences which include an innovative one-to-one Bible study, life skills, crafts, experiential learning games, and informative field trips. Volunteers invest three hours for three consecutive days in June, July or August.
